Work in Progress 12

Another approach; this time using a very familiar tune written some time in the 16th century - Greensleeves. Having downloaded a Midi file of the music, I slowed it down and removed some of the notes, playing the resulting broken tune through the music box sample. As the music progresses, the spaces are filled with the echoes of a distant piano, and then embellished further by strings, sounding as if they are part of the record - the cracks and hisses of which can be heard throughout.

Near the end,the piece suddenly finishes - analogous with the pottery breaking - and we find ourselves back at the beginning. The music builds again, reflecting the potter's creation of the piece and our creation of the world from which we imagine it came.
